The DIC-SBR process - the most intelligent solution to treat wastewater -

The DIC-SBR activated sludge process (Differential Internal Cycle-strategie - Sequential Batch Reactor) is an up-to-date and cost-saving solution to treat wastewater biologically. It was developed and patented by Dr. Niels Chr. Holm, (manager at LimnoTec). Since 1997 built in several plants this process has been established in practice and proved competitive:

Not only organic compounds but also ecologically dangerous nitrate and phosphate are biologically largely eliminated. Therefore the amount of elimination exceeds the legal demands by far.

All biological treatment stages, including the sludge settling, are carried out in one reactor only. The filling phase is very short, achieved by chock-loading. First of all the mechanically treated wastewater flows into a buffer-tank. This tank adjusts the reactor-influent of different wastewater fractions according to the demands (see figure).

Due to its flexibility and safety in operation, the DIC-SBR activated sludge process is suitable for municipal and industrial wastewater. An extension is very easily performed at comparatively low costs anytime. Conventional plants can normally easily be converted or extended into DIC-SBR plants.

The requirement of personel is low because the whole treatment process is automatically performed. Additional savings in operation expenses are the result of low need of precipitants which causes a comparatively low amount of excess sludge. In addition to the high safety in operation, the servicing is easy and the plants exhibit low emission levels of noise and odour.
